Dear Friends,

I just updated my website! I am committed to open communications with Monrovians, so I want to maintain this website during my tenure as Mayor. You’ll notice a few changes from the campaign website:

An email newsletter – I will be sending an email newsletter every 2-3 months to keep you up-to-date about current issues around the city. You can sign up for my newsletter right from the website.

There’s a page outlining my Committee assignments. Let me know if you are especially interested in any of these areas.

A new page listing some specific community resources and organizations of special interest to me. There are so many great resources and websites for Monrovians that I couldn’t list them all. However, I hope these will get you started if you are looking for more information.

The Calendar feature has been updated, with all the events from the Monrovia community calendar. You can see a whole month of events at a time on the Calendar page, as well as a list of upcoming events in the sidebar.

I want to hear from you, so go ahead – add a comment to any blog entry, or send an email directly to me at maryann@lutz-co.com.

Thank you,
Mary Ann

Dear Friends,
As you know the election is only one week away. I appreciate the support you have shown me in this campaign.

Now the next step is to make sure that we get out the vote. It is also important that the incumbents remain on the Council. Here is a letter of support written by Mayor Rob Hammond.

Let’s get out the vote and go “green” at the same way. Take this information and letter and email it to 5+ friends. Ask that they pass it along as well.

With this type of a campaign we are sure to alert and remind the citizens of the election and support Joe, Dan and myself at the same time.

Thank you so very much for your support!
Mary Ann

Dear Neighbors and Fellow Monrovians,

For the past six years I have been privileged to serve you as a Council Member. It is a position that I have treasured from the first day and continue to serve with passion. It is my desire to lead Monrovia to greater heights. I am writing to you to ask that you renew your support and confidence in my service as your City Council representative by electing me as Monrovia’s next Mayor.

What does it mean to be the Mayor of Monrovia? And why am I asking you to support me in this quest?

The Mayor of our city must be a team builder able to bring consensus among the Council Members while encouraging our City Staff to reach for new heights.

The Mayor must be able to communicate with citizens, city council colleagues, partners at the school district and Chamber of Commerce, regional counterparts, the media, and city staff.

The Mayor of Monrovia must be a regional leader who has built strong local, state, and national relationships.

The Mayor of Monrovia must be visionary.

Experience

A business owner, with a background in Human Resources, who has led many civic and non-profit boards.

Ability to achieve consensus, build new and lasting partnerships, communicate effectively, and actively listen to all opinions to find common ground.

Optimizes networking/ learning opportunities to increase knowledge and shared vision.

Leadership

Built regional relationships by serving on many regional boards and commissions.

Holds strong and respectful relationships with our elected officials at state and national levels.

These key relationships ensure our voice will be heard at all levels of government and will be especially important as we move forward with the Gold Line Extension, receive grants, and affect legislation that benefits our community.

Vision

My Focus remains this community.

Exceptional customer service at city hall, construction of our beautiful new Library, youth oriented programs, economic development, beautification, and environmental stewardship of our city.

Instrumental in developing citywide programs:

Monrovia’s Youth Employment Services (YES) program, Habitat for Humanity homes, and supporting tough gang prevention programs.

Offers innovative ideas for economic growth, and the Monrovia Environmental Accords. I pledge to seek new ways to meet our community’s needs.

The City of Monrovia deserves a Mayor who has the proven ability to understand the inner workings of our community, the vital partnership with the Schools and Chamber, our historic richness, and strong regional relationships. Our City cannot afford a mistake, the stakes are too high; the crisis of the state and national economics, and how they affect our community cannot be left to someone who does not have the experience, leadership and vision qualities that I bring to this very important job.

The past six years have been extraordinary. I thank Council Member Tom Adams and Mayor Rob Hammond for their commitment to our community. It has been my honor and privilege to work alongside them. As our team will now change, incumbent Council Members Joe Garcia and Dan Kirby are asking for your votes. I encourage you to join me in re-electing them to further the collaborative vision for our community.

I ask for your support, as I renew my commitment to our community with a vision for common sense leadership in a challenging world. Please honor me with your vote for Mayor on Tuesday, April 14.

I welcome your comments about this election and issues facing Monrovia. Call me at (626) 303-1113 or write to www.MaryAnn4Mayor.com. There you can learn more about me and my campaign.

Yours in Service
Mary Ann Lutz
