About Mary Ann
Passionate – Experienced – Visionary – Leader
Possessed of a keen business sense balanced with common sense, Mary Ann Lutz has spent her life combining those two traits for the benefit of others. Add to that a sincere willingness to give her time to community service and you have the essence of Mary Ann’s motivation.
As a graduate of Boise State University (Theater Arts, 1982), Mary Ann’s “performance gene” keeps her front and center in any endeavor to enhance life for those around her. Her contributions to the community are many and the honors that have followed acknowledging her generosity of time are among the most coveted in any community. Chief among them are the Iris Award (as Citizen of the Year), the Dick Lord Award as Business Person of the Year, and various accolades from local, state and county associations.
The focal point of those honors, however, are not the awards themselves, but the people who benefit from her participation in all things Monrovia. Her influence is felt throughout the city via the Rotary Club, the Monrovia Day Association, Make a Difference Day, the Schools Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club, the Old Town Merchants Association and many others.
First and foremost, though, is Mary Ann’s experience in leadership on the City Council that takes the bulk of her time and holds great interest as a way to improve life in our City. Her appointments to regional governing groups are testament to the respect for her work as a Council member that is known locally, and throughout the State of California.
Her reputation as one of the busiest people in town is balanced with a personal life spent with husband Corey as they enjoy the theater, traveling and company of great friends.
As Mayor, Mary Ann seeks to serve with a generous heart, an understanding of the needs of our community and a willingness to give the time it takes to give her very best effort so Monrovia can be its best.
